C&T are thrilled to announce £49K of investment from Arts Council England for an ambitious new programme of work under the banner of ‘Identities.’ Over the coming months artists from a range of under-represented backgrounds will be given the chance to create exciting new work through C&T’s Prospero digital platform, telling stories and inspiring learning in schools that reflect the diversity of the society around us.

Over the coming months freelance artists from a range of art forms and experiences will be commissioned to create original interactive online learning materials that explore an aspect of the theme of ‘Identities.’ In total 10 artists will be commissioned, each offering a unique insight into a different aspect of the rich diversity of human cultures, genders, sexualities, ethnicities and disabilities.

This work will be driven by Prospero, a unique, powerful digital learning platform created by C&T. Dozens of artists already use Prospero to create online learning content and share it with schools across the globe. ‘Identities’ will radically expand that community of creatives, adding new voices to the online library of creative learning.

Artists won’t be left to work alone - C&T will support the 10 creative journeys, providing training and support every step of the way. A panel of diverse curator/mentors will also support commissioned artist offering guidance and expertise.

Ultimately, the created interactive workshops will be available to hundreds of schools across the country, enriching learning in profound and insightful ways, by using the technologies young people love.

Artists who want to apply to take part in Identities will be able to apply online from Monday 27th September. In addition a series of taster workshops will take place in Worcester, Coventry, Merseyside, Canterbury, London and Birmingham during October and November, giving artists the chance to find out more.

Check in here from Monday 27th September to find out to apply and for a range of application materials.

Dr Paul Sutton, C&T’s Artistic Director said “We are so grateful for the Arts Council’s support for Identities. Their investment will help us create work for freelance artists, who have had such a challenging time during the pandemic. Ultimately we can’t wait to see the creativity these commission inspire in classrooms across the country.”
