10 commissions for diverse artist/educators to create digital learning exploring 'identities.'

PLEASE NOTE APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED. THIS BLOG IS AVAILABLE FOR INFORMATION AND ARCHIVAL REASONS ONLY

C&T wants to commission 10 diverse artist / educators to create arts-based digital learning materials that explore the theme of ‘identities.’

Our sense of our own identities is in flux like never before.  Globalisation and the Covid-19 pandemic are just two forces that have given rise to young people’s dislocation from place, ethnicity, sexuality and (dis)ability.  The Black Lives Matter movement, questions around intersectionality and trans rights have all foregrounded these questions in new and important ways.  This is particularly true for children, who are facing extreme social, educational and cultural challenges as a consequence of the impact of Coronavirus.  We want to find creative ways of exploring these ideas, supporting these emerging conversations in classrooms across the country.  Identities aims to support ten artists to be part of these conversations, through their own distinctive arts practice and our technology, Prospero.

We want to support 10 artists to learn to use Prospero to create their own ‘creative digital learning’ content for schools. What that means is largely up to you. You can use text, video, audio, interactive maps, virtual reality or video game techniques. Prospero blends all of these media seamlessly.  You won’t be alone: we will support you with training and guidance to make sure you have the skills you need to make Prospero work for you. Most importantly we want you to bring your artform skills to Prospero and find a way to bring the theme of Identities to life for schools across England.

When you have created your workshops we will publish them to the Prospero Library, where anyone can access them through a computer, tablet or smartphone. We want hundreds of schools and thousands of children and young people to engage with these creative resources.

We welcome applications from underprespresented sections of the arts education community. We want to create a diverse portfolio of creative responses to our theme and welcome proposals from artists that further this ambition.

To help you apply, a series of public workshops that explain our approach and demonstrate will be held across England and online during October and November. It is not essential you attend these but we would love you to join us to find out more. Details are in the application pack.

Fee: Each commission is £2250 paid as a freelance fee.

Applications close 12th November 12.00pm
