C&T brings digital technologies to Early Years classrooms

C&T is working with a primary school in Pershore, Worcestershire to help early years pupils gain new skills in phonics and literacy through the use of augmented reality technologies.

Working with classroom teachers, C&T’s skilled drama and technology practitioners have helped to create a digital alphabet of phonetic sounds, signs and actions which helps children and their parents to learn the building blocks of reading and writing. C&T has worked to create digital resources that provide the building blocks for these crucial literacy skills.

Underpinned by sound drama techniques, kinaesthetic learning methods and practical activities, the project aims to use 21st century digital technologies to engage the citizens of the future. Very soon C&T will transform this classroom practice into tactile learning materials that can then be used by other early years teachers in this small rural primary school in Worcestershire.

Paul Sutton, C&T’s Artistic Director, said “this is a really exciting initiative that puts cutting-edge technology in the hands of ordinary teachers.  We’re really excited to be working alongside such inspiring educators who are prepared to engage in new ways of enhancing their pupils learning and achievements.”
